Ahmad Abderrasul Sa'adat was born in al-Bireh on 23 February 1953, to a family that was forcibly displaced from the village of Dayr Tarif, located in the Ramla district, in 1948. Sa'adat lived in al-Bireh, and studied at the UNRWA-run al-Am'ari School, followed by al-Bireh al-Jadida School, then at al-Hashimiyya Secondary School. He studied mathematics at the Teachers' Training Centre in Ramallah, from which he graduated in 1975. He spent his life in captivity in the Israeli Occupation prisons, where he is still detained.
show more show lessThe Ahmad Sa'adat Collection documents the history of the Palestinian national movement and the experience of imprisonment, and includes several photographs of Sa'adat's family members along with their friends on different occasions. These photographs show Ahmad Sa'adat in different periods of his life. In addition, the collection contains important documents, such as family letters exchanged between Ahmad Sa'adat, his wife, Abla al-Rimawi, and their children, Iba', Somoud, Ghassan and Yasar, which were handwritten and received or sent by Sa'adat while he was in the Israeli Occupation prisons. It also includes Sa'adat and al-Rimawi's marriage contract, school certificates, newspaper clippings about the experience of Sa'adat's arrest, and other papers that reflect his personal life and struggle.
