Yousef Al-Astal was born in the town of Al-Qarara in the Khan Yunis Governorate. He works as a farmer and loves collecting antiquities and heritage pieces. Since his childhood, he has been collecting items while working the land. During the genocidal war on Gaza, his antiquities collection was damaged.

This collection includes approximately 74 artifacts, including capitals, bases, marble column bodies, stone mills, and tombstones, in addition to a collection of stones, tiles, stone mosaics, and various pieces of pottery, ivory, and marble dating back to the Byzantine and Islamic periods. The Mayasem Association for Culture and Arts worked to rescue and document this collection as part of the project to rescue museum collections in the Gaza Strip.
