Yacoub Basil Shomali was born in Beit Sahour in 1921. He completed his secondary education at the College des Freres in Jerusalem and pursued his studies in law for three years at the Arab College in Jerusalem. He worked in the Jordanian Arab Army from 1950 to 1968, providing moral guidance to the army, after which he returned to his hometown and worked as a teacher. He wrote short stories, novels, plays and articles, and published in many Jordanian and Palestinian newspapers and magazines. His plays and some of his stories were cast and broadcast at the Jordan Broadcasting House. He died in 1993.
show more show lessThis collection includes plays, articles, and stories by the writer Yacoub Shomali, most of which were published in many newspapers and books. Therefore, the collection consists of newspaper clippings containing his articles, including clippings from Filastin Newspaper, al-Ittihad Newspaper, al-Fajr Newspaper, and The Jerusalem Post newspaper, as well as handwritten texts of plays. It also consists of personal and family documents, and texts from the eulogies of Yacoub Shomali in 1993.
