Born in 1926 in the Iron Gate Neighbourhood in the Old City of Jerusalem, Amin al-Khatib graduated in 1954 from the Syrian University with a degree in Medicine. Besides opening his clinic in 1960; in which he worked until 1994, he established many institutions, including al-Quds University, el-Hakawati Theatre, and al-Makased Hospital, and was named ''The Father of the Poor''. Throughout his life, he was arrested by the Israeli Occupation Forces for defying the said Occupation.
