The Arab Women Union Society in Jerusalem is one of the oldest women's societies in Palestine. It was founded in 1928 at the initiative of several women from Jerusalem, led by the late Zulaikha Shihabi. Since then, the Society has kept pace with the steps and stages of the national struggle of the Palestinian people, as it has played important roles, including participating in mass activities and extending a helping hand to the freedom fighters and revolutionaries by caring for the wounded fighters, embracing and caring for the sons of shaheeds, and helping the families that have been affected by the calamities that hit the country.
