BIOGRAPHY

Majida Mohammad Hamdi al-Masri was born in Haifa in 1947. Early in her life, she joined the Arab Nationalist Movement and later became a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and attended PFLP’s training camps in Jordan. She later joined the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), and has assumed the position of DFLP’s Secretary-General in Nablus governorate since 1999. She co-founded with others the Mothers School Society in the same year. She became a member of DFLP’s political bureau in 2004, and the Minister of Social Affairs in the Palestinian government from 2009 to 2013. She is currently a member of the Secretariat of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement against Israel.

DESCRIPTION

The collection consists of some personal and family photographs of Majida al-Masri, which document her work in the feminist and political arenas. It also contains the diary of the shaheeda Shadia abu Ghazaleh, Majida's close friend, in addition to Majida's personal letters.
