Mustafa abu Ali is a Palestinian film director who was born in Malha village in 1940. He took refuge with his family in Beit Jala and then in Bethlehem, after which he relocated with his family to Jordan. He studied cinema at the London School of Film Techniques. Abu Ali worked in the Cinema Department of the Jordanian Ministry of Information for a short period, then changed jobs until he founded the Palestinian Cinema Foundation, which was affiliated with Unified Information of the Palestine Liberation Organisation. Following his return to the West Bank, he re-established the Palestinian Cinema Group.
