Mohammad Batrawi is a Palestinian writer, poet and journalist who hails from the depopulated village of Asdod. Following the 1948 Nakba, he sought refuge with his family in Gaza. He is one of the founders of the Palestinian Communist Party and the Palestinian Writers Union. He worked as a journalist and editor in many newspapers and magazines, the most important of which were al-Fajr Newspaper and the Palestinian Writer Magazine. He held the position of financial controller of the Jerusalem District Electricity Company and worked as an advisor to the Palestinian Ministry of Culture and as an editor for some issues of al-Fajr Newspaper.
show more show lessThe Mohammad Batrawi Collection consists of photographs and documents of his family and professional life, including several family photographs and others related to his work and activities when he worked for the Writers' Union and al-Fajr Newspaper, his official documents, such as certificates, work identification and personal cards, his handwritten scripts and notes on several events and personalities, collections of poetry by Palestinian poets handwritten by him, and a collection of postcards and drawings he kept.
