Sa'd Edin al-Alami is the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who was born in Jerusalem in 1911 to Jalal Edin al-Alami. He attended the College des Freres, where he studied French and English at a young age, then studied Islamic sciences at al-Azhar in Cairo, and obtained the National and International Certificate in 1932. After that, he worked as a teacher at the Yafa House for Islamic Sciences in 1934, and he assumed the position of Mufti in 1953 for forty years before he passed away in 1993.
show more show lessThe Sa'd Edin al-Alami Collection consists of photographs and documents. The collection includes photographs which al-Alami compiled during his official visits to various Palestinian cities and countries such as Iran in the 1960s. It also contains documents, including passports and visas for al-Alami issued during the 1940s, 1950s and 1980s, a 1947 "International Cholera Vaccination Certificate", school certificates, property and housing contracts concluded between the British High Commissioner and al-Alami, and his marriage contract. It also contains issues of local newspapers such as al-Quds, an-Nahar and Asha'b, issued in 1993, which include obituaries and condolences on the death of al-Alami.
