Talal al-Assi is a father and grandfather who retired in 2014, and he is from the depopulated village of Lifta, located in the Jerusalem district, and was born there on 27 October 1948. He worked as a typewriter trainer in a vocational training centre and at the Palestinian Ministry of Interior. Al-Assi kept his grandfather's documents, as they constitute proof of a right that was robbed by the Israeli Occupation.

The Talal al-Assi Collection covers the period between the early 1930s and the 1950s, and is a family archive of an economic nature in the depopulated village of Lifta, located in Jerusalem district, where the family owned a stone mills facility under the name "Assi and Partners".
The collection includes different receipts showing the nature of the stones that were required for construction at the time, a land sale deed and contract that were officially registered with the Land Registrar’s Office in Arabic and English, a receipt issued by the Jerusalem municipality, and a note of exchange issued by the British Bank in Jerusalem.
