Emile Awwád and his children

Emile was a member of the Communist Party and was imprisoned for the first time due to his political activity with the Party in 1958; he was sentenced for 15 years in prison. In 1964, the King issued an amnesty for him and accordingly, got out of prison and lived in Jerusalem where he continued his activity. Accordingly, was under home arrest between 1964 and 1967. One year later, he was arrested again and imprisoned for two years in Askalan Prison. After that, he was deported to Jordan in 1970 and was only allowed back home in 1996. He now lives in Jordan
