The Conquest of the Desert Expo, a Postal Card, 1953

Dating to 1953, this postal card taken from the Ilyas Kusa collection shows a stamp from the Conquest of the Desert exposition held in Jerusalem in the same year, and another stamp with Israel written on it. It is probable that the envelope contains drawing of old coins by the artist Otto Frisch which date back to two significant events in Israel history, namely the Maccabees and the Bar Kokhba revolt.
