"Bourguiba's Proposal for an Arab-Israel Peace", Notes, 1965-1966
A document containing a chain of events following Tunisian president Habib Bourguiba's proposal for an Arab-Israel peace. Bourguiba did an interview with the Le Monde newspaper on 9 April 1965, then made a speech to a group of socialist students on 24 April 1965, which was followed by an attack on the Tunisian Embassy in Cairo by a group of Egyptians and another attack by radio stations, which resulted in having the Tunisian newspapers attack Jamal ʿabd an-Naṣer. On 26 April 1965, a protest against Bourguiba took place in Jerusalem, and then one in Tunisia at the Egyptian, Syrian and Iraqi Embassy where protestors held a coffin with a photo of an-Naṣer.
