A Statement by Bassam ash-Shakʿa about His Assassination Attempt, 1980-84
Issued in 1984, this document shows a draft of a statement by Bassam ash-Shakʿa about his assassination attempt in 1980. This statement was released in response to reports by the Israeli occupation forces identifying the perpetrators of the assassination attempt. ash-Shakʿa blamed the Israeli occupation forces for the assassination attempt and mentioned that four years had passed since the incident, but the authorities did not listen to his or his colleagues' statements, including Karim Khalaf and Ibrahim al-Taweel, mayors of al-Bireh and Ramallah.
