Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 470, March 5 1987

The four hundred and seventieth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on March 5, 1987. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 12-page issue covers the following: - Gush Emunim military units used to suppress protests in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. - Mubarak upholds the Amman agreement and Rabin selects the members of the “joint delegation”. - March 8th is a paid holiday in 120 institutions. - Broad international support of Gorbachevʾs new peace initiative. Shevardnadze proposes the disarmament of missiles in Asia.  - In a press conference: Israeli authorities continue to hound and persecute labour activists in Gaza. - Syrian-Lebanese calls regarding the political reform project. Lebanese forces are deployed along the coastal highway. - The Soviet Union rejects bilateral negotiations under an “international umbrella” and reiterates the need for a fully-fledged international conference. - Turkey bombs strongholds of the opposition forces in Iraq. - The Israeli Supreme Court dismisses the appeal lodged by the Jerusalem District Electricity Company. - The extension of Varshavskiʾs detention until the legal proceedings against him are completed. - Exports of citrus fruits from the Gaza Strip decreased by 100 thousand tons in ten years. - The residents of Jabalia Palestinian Refugee Camp reaffirm their attachment to their homes. - Israeli investors market and distribute goods worth 700 million dollars in the Occupied Palestinian Territory annually. - From the chronicles of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. - The mother refuses to be blackmailed… and the punishment is the detainment of two of her sons. - In an important announcement by Radio Moscow: The Soviet Union supports the efforts to restore the unity of the Palestine Liberation organisation. - In light of the investigation committeeʾs report: Reaganʾs aides are also responsible for his secret wars. - Iraq announces that it has repelled a new Iranian attack east of Basrah. - Mubarak vows to carry on as an intermediary between Peres and King Hussein. Peres lays down the principles of the Israeli-Egyptian agreement.
