Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue No 694, June 20 1991
The six hundred and ninety-fourth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on June 20, 1991. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 12-page issue covers the following: 1. Ramallah and al-Bireh under curfew after a young man threw a handmade grenade at the Ramallah Police Station. 2. Settlement activities on the lands of Shabtin village. 3. Educational institutes in the Occupied Palestinian Territory expend all efforts to make the Tawjihi examinations a success and to ensure the integrity of the results. 4. An armed robbery of the Birzeit Post Office. 5. An aerial survey of three villages raises the concerns of landowners. 6. Several landowners in al-Auja receive notices attached to cheques with large sums of money in compensation for the water canal running through their land. 7. One of the biggest issues facing farmers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is the marketing and selling of their produce. 8. Palestinian villages stand against the interventions of the civil administration. 9. The formation of a democratic union at Birzeit University. 10. The Nablus Municipality protests the intervention of the Israeli planning inspector in its affairs. 11. An article entitled “The Harsh Measures Continue as the Intifada Persists.” 12. Local news from Hebron “Nine years since the death of the Shaheed Dawud al-Atawna, fees for moving the remains of a shaheed, extending the reissuing of green cards, land seizures in Idhna and as-Samu.” News from Ramallah “Constant raids on the houses in Jalazone Camp, the residents of Silwad are used as human shields, young men are forced to guard telephone lines in Ein Yabrud, commemorating the sixth anniversary of the death of the Shaheed Naẓem ar-Rimawy.” News from Gaza “The enucleation of the eye of a young man in Gaza after being hit by a bullet, the confiscation of a residentʾs ID card, extending the academic year again, new theatre productions in Gaza.” News from the Jordan Valley area “A large tax on a resident, reissuing green cards for a number of residents, a raid on ad-Duyuk village, prisoners released, preventing the opening of a journalistʾs personal exhibition, a young man from Aqabat Jaber Camp is injured.” 13. The uprooting of trees and demolition of houses in Ramallah. 14. Huge losses for compensating lost school days. 15. Cement prices are on the rise. 16. An article by Zaky Abdul-Majid entitled “The Cause of Palestine after the Gulf Crisis.”
