Two Videos of ASHTAR Theatre's "The Stroy of Sa'id al-Mas'ud", al-Quds (Jerusalem), 2008
Two video clips documenting the presentation of "The Story of Sa'id al-Mas'ud", a play performed by ASHTAR Theatre in al-Quds (Jerusalem) in 2008. Following the theatrical style of the Theatre of the Oppressed, the play seeks to identify solutions for preventing the spread of drug use within the Palestinian society through the story of a student in the 8th grade. The student lives with a family of 9 members in a small house that barely fits all of them, where the father is a cordwainer, the mother prepares food and the children play and do their schoolwork. The play aims to shed light on the reasons which lead the student to neglect his studies and fail in school, while at the same time giving a slice of life on the reality of Palestinian families living in the Old City of al-Quds (Jerusalem). Performed by: Muhammad Eid, Edward Muallem, Faten Khoury, Raed al-Isa and Iman Awn. Directed by: Iman Awn
