Three Videos of ASHTAR Theatre's "Al-Mirya' Wal Qour'qa'", The Fifth International Festival for The Theatre of the Oppressed, 2015
Three video clips documenting the presentation of "Al-Mirya' Wal Qour'qa'", a play produced by ASHTAR Theatre as part of the fifth International Festival for the Theatre of the Oppressed in 2015. The play sheds light on vital cases relating to the field of agricultural production and the challenges faced by Palestinian farmers. Moreover, it seeks to create a space for audiences to think about their responsibility toward the agricultural field and come up with bylaws which aim to enhance the agricultural conditions in Palestine, provided that it is one of the most important facets of resistance for the Palestinians. The producers of the play tackle three major cases as follows: First case: The challenges undergone by Palestinian farmers in distributing their agricultural produce due to the competition among national products on the one hand, and the dominance of the Israeli products in the market on the other hand. Second case: The water and underground wells crisis, particularly in the Aghwar, and the Israeli control over water resources for the benefit of illegal settlements in the West Bank. Third case: The illegal Israeli confiscation of Palestinian agricultural lands and its consequences on Palestinian farmers. Directed by Iman Awn
