A Video of ASHTAR Theatre's Performance of "Beir Yasmine" in Cooperation with al-Hara Theatre, Bethlehem
A video clip documenting the performance of "Beit Yasmine" [House of Yasmine], a play produced by ASHTAR Theatre in cooperation with al-Hara Theatre in Bethlehem and directed by Iman Awn. In "Beit Yasmine", Awn sheds light on the issue of the aid provided by granting counties to Palestinians through the Palestinian Government or non-Governmental organizations, performed in the style of a critical forum performance. Eight actors take part in performing the hour and a half long play, tackling the subjects of the Palestinian Government's development policies and the manner in which Palestinian institutions obtain external support, in addition to the Government's attempts to stop the external support and dispense of the lives of its citizens as a result of the developmental policies. Awn focuses on the lack of help that is reaching the Palestine people from granting countries in terms of prevailing against the Israeli occupation. Such countries only help with financial aid rather than establishing developmental projects. This is displayed through the story of Yasmine, a human rights activist who hosts a television program in her home. Yasmine is shot at her birthday celebration and becomes paralysed. Yasmine's family tries to save her in any means possible and external forces intervene to help, but instead of helping Yasmine, matters become more complicated. Each family member chooses to follow their own interest and they slowly leave Yasmine by herself. What will happen to Yasmine? Who is Yasmine according to our own views? Cast: Nicola Zrine, Bayan Shbaib, Muhammad Eid, Riham Ishaq, Iyad Hourany, Hanin Tarabya, and 'Ata Naser.
