ASHTAR Theatre's Performance of "al-Mahkama" in Cooperation with Save al-Aghwar
Eight video clips documenting the performance of "al-Mahkama" [A Court], a play produced by ASHTAR Theatre, tackling the issue of labour in Israeli settlements and the hardships experienced by the citizens of al-Aghwar in the health and education sectors. The play brings the stories of al-Aghwar to the streets of 16 cities and villages in the West Bank and 3 performances in Jordan. "Al-Mahkama" was carried out through the training of 6 participants from al-Aghwar along with two representatives of ASHTAR Theatre on the techniques of the interactive forum theatre. This project comes in cooperation with Med Culture and is funded by the European Union and the Swedish Consulate in al-Quds (Jerusalem) - as part of the Palestinian Performing Arts Network. This project is implemented in cooperation with Minority Rights Group International, Prince Clouse Fund for Culture and Development, Civic Forum Institute in Palestine, and Andalus Institute for Tolerance and anti-Violence Studies. The training and project were supervised and directed by Iman Awn.
