A Video of ASHTAR Theatre's Performance of "The Stroy of Muna" Play
A video clip documenting the performance of "The Story of Muna", a play by ASHTAR Theatre. The story of the play revolves around the character of 14-year-old school student, Muna, who lives in a Palestinian village nearby the apartheid wall, to a popular family. Muna's father remarries a woman who lives near his workplace in the green line area. He would go back and forth to both families but less so to Muna's. Muns's uncle tries to convince her mother Amina to find Muna a husband as to preserve the family's honour. Muna refuses and, as a result, is severely beaten up by her uncle and father and ends up in the hospital. The last scene of the play shows Muna being killed by her uncle under the claim of protecting the family's honour for protesting against the marriage imposed on her without her consent. Cast: Edward Muallem, Muhammad Eid, Raed al-'Isa, Riham Ishaq, Athar al-Hajj, Rana Burqan, and Omar al-Jallad. Directed by Barbara Santos - The Theatre of the Oppressed - Brazil.
