Attali'ah Newspaper, Issue 850, July 6 1994
The eight hundred and fiftieth issue of Attali'ah Newspaper which was published on July 6, 1994. Bashir al-Barghuthy is the issueʾs editor-in-chief, and it was printed in Salah ad-Din Press in al-Quds (Jerusalem). The 20-page issue covers the following: 1. A variety of events held to commemorate Palestinian Heritage Day. 2. The release of another group of prisoners as events in solidarity with prisoners continue. 3. The Palestinian Centre for the Study of Nonviolence decides to suspend the campaign of opening sealed houses to give the Israeli occupation a chance to consider the anti-campaign. 4. Hindering the travels of a group of children. 5. The seizure of 200 dunams of land in Deir Istiya. 6. Walid Mustafa writes after his return that practising the right of return shouldnʾt be exclusive to Palestinian leaders. 7. An article entitled “Under the Weight of Its Heavy Financial Obligations, Will the Palestinian Authority be able to Raise the Salaries of Its Employees?” 8. “The Second Face” is the title of the winner of Attaliʾahʾs fifth short story competition. 9. Ziyad Khaddash reflects on local fictional characters: Nuzha from The Gate of the Courtyard as an example. 10. A story about the Egyptian spy Raafat Al-Haggan. 11. Maher Charif writes about the melding of socialist and liberal ideas in the writings of Salama Mousa. 12. A section on popular jobs discussing Jalebi dessert. 13. A feature story on Wadi al-Nar. 14. The Palestinian Farmersʾ Union organised a trip to the agricultural experiment stations in Arroub and Beit Ummar in cooperation with the Agricultural Relief Committees. 15. Preparations for the General Education Examinations are complete. 16. The residents of al-Farʾa pave a new agricultural road with the aid of the Agricultural Committee. 17. The unemployment of graduates is one of the key issues facing the Palestinian National Authority. 18. A delegation from Hebron visits newly-released prisoners. 19. Dahiyat al-Barid without telephone cables. 20. Ras al-Far'a village near the Jordan Valley suffers a lack of basic services. 21. In the “A Figure from My Country” section: Maha El-Saca turned her interest in Palestinian heritage into her lifeʾs passion. 22. As the Palestinian Authority takes control of the West Bank, it takes over the health sector and explains in this article the reason why Mufida Abed and Ihsan Abeet have not received treatment. 23.
