Celebrating Bassam Shak'a's Return Home, a Piece by David Richardson
Handwritten in Arabic, this document shows a piece written by David Richardson on celebrating Bassam Shak'a's return to Palestine after receiving treatment in England, during which he received many wishes from all over the West Bank and Gaza. Shak'a was elected president in 1976 at the age of 45, and he was a member of the Baath Party, from which he resigned in 1959. He was interrogated and imprisoned during the Jordanian Rule of the West Bank, he then took refuge in Syria and Egypt because of his political ties and he returned to the West Bank after the 1967 June War.
