The Continuation of the Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 9 December 1939

Handwritten, this archival item documents the continuation of the diaries of  Khalil Sakakini on Saturday 9 December 1939, where he inaugurated his diary by mentioning that he, his sister Millia, and daughters Hala and Dummia visited the cemetery and scattered some flowers, brought some red elastic soil and scattered it around the graves, then came the gardener of the Protestant community's cemetery and planted the Rosemary on the edges of the graveyard. Later, Assakakini documented what he remembered during one of the nights in 1917 whereas he was imprisoned at the Russian Compound during which the Ottoman soldiers stormed inside, chained the prisoners and rode them down to Jericho, Daraa then Damasus. Assakakini also wrote about a habit of his father's; where he used to record incidents by date inside the footnotes of "Al-Sawaiah", which is a book about praying rituals among the Greek Orthodox, as he recalls the date of birth of his older brother; Khalil on Tuesday 10 January 1978 at seven o'clock, however, he died a child.  Then he documents parts of his childhood and the visits of his friends; Katpinko Deeb, Adel Jaber, Elias Haddad, and FarajAllah, all taken from a diary he previously wrote on 23 January 1919.
