Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 16-17 March 1942

Handwritten, this archival item documents the diaries of Khalil Sakakini on Monday and Tuesday 16-17 March 1942. On Monday, he went to the funeral of George al-Sayegh's wife, then addressed his deceased wife and said that he went alone to her grave and recalled their lives together, but he says that the sad memories had erased the beautiful ones, then he said that he went with his cousin Yacoub and Shukry Labib to pay condolences to al-Sayegh. On Tuesday, he said that he refused the invitation of Labib Gholmyeh for his wedding, taking place on the first Sunday after Easter in "Marjeyoun", so he wished him happiness and said that he was in constant mourning of his wife Umm Sary, and then he went with Ahmad Khalifa, George Khamis, Fakhri al-Jouhary and Adel Jabr in the afternoon to pay condolences to console George al-Sayegh.
