Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 8-15 May 1942
Handwritten, this archival item documents the diaries of Khalil Sakakini from Friday 8 to Friday 15 May 1942, which Sakakini formulated in the form of weekly. In the first point, he mentioned that “Sari” went on Monday, 11 May to Jaffa for work related to the American Consulate, and returned on Thursday, 14 May. In the second point, he talked about the death of “Umm Abdullah Tamari,” the mother-in-law of “Yacoub,” his cousin, who was over 80 years old, as she died on Tuesday in Ramallah, and they went out at her funeral on Wednesday in Jerusalem. In the third point, he says that on Thursday, 14 May he read in al-Ahram that “Mary”, the wife of “Musa Faraj Allah” died at the age of 43, then he says that “Faraj Allah” is over 70 years old, so the difference between him and his wife is no less than 30 years and he marvels at this marriage. In the fourth point, he says that he visited “George Antonius” twice, once at the King David Hotel and once at his home, and both times his condition was very bad.
