The Continuation of the Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 24 June to 15 July 1947

Handwritten, this archival item documents the diaries of Khalil Sakakini from Tuesday 24 June to Tuesday 15 July 1947, on Saturday, 5 July, was the date of the certificate distribution ceremony was held at Nahda College. The ceremony was under the auspices of the Consul of Lebanon, Dr Shehadeh al-Ghussein, and three of the college’s graduates delivered the speeches of the graduates, and they were Saleh al-Barani, Abdel-Mohsen al-Qattan and Hanna Sakkab, while Labib Gholmieh gave another speech, where the speeches were interspersed with music and in the end, Dr Shehadeh gave the last speech. At the end of the page, he wrote his diary, dated Monday, 7 July 1947, mentioning his visit to Gaza City, accompanied by his sister Melia, at the invitation of the Orthodox Club.
