A Letter from Hisham Halawani to His Wife, 1984
Handwritten, this letter is by Hisham Halawani at Bir al-Sabi Prison to his wife Waela and son Helmi at as-Sowana Neighbourhood in Jerusalem on 8 March 1984, where he wrote congratulating his wife on International Women's Day, which expresses all the oppressed women of the world. He also wrote about the injustice that women are usually subjected to, due to customs and traditions that limit their development and restrict them. He believed that women should struggle to change this feudal capitalist system, and wrote about the importance of women to society and that their development is the development of society, and in order to achieve this, women must engage in struggle and production, to break these restrictions.
