Anwar Nusseibeh Stepping Over a Sheep Surrounded by a Group of People, 1984

Taken in 1984, this photograph shows Anwar Zaki Nusseibeh standing in the middle and wearing sunglasses, stepping over the sheep to be sacrificed as an old ritual named "stepping over a sheep", which is a custom in which the person who the animal is sacrificed for steps over it, which was sacrificed on the occasion of the arrival of Nusseibeh from Hajj, in front of his house in Sheikh Jarrah Neighbourhood in Jerusalem. Others in the photograph were not identified.
