The Testimony of a Military Prisoner on Delivering a False Statement Due to Persecution, 1963
Handwritten in Arabic and found in the Collection of Sari Nusseibeh, this archival item documents the testimony of a military prisoner on delivering a false statement due to being exposed to persecution, in this testimony, he mentions all the details from the moment he was held captive in front of his children by the general intelligence in Qalqilya on the 27 October 1963 during the evening up until he delivered his testimony to the Chief, "Fayiq Ghadban" on 28 October 1963. His statement consisted of a collection of lies he was forced to deliver in order to save himself from all violent yet severe kinds of torture despite the uncertainty of the facts given in addition to being incohesive in terms of time and dates, then, he questioned the reason to why "Saeed Abu Jaloud" alleged that he received two writings from someone called "Idris Abu Hanieh" knowing that "Abu Hanieh" has been dead for three years and was involved in this case because of this false allegation, he also added that the affidavit of leaving the police station to Qalqilya in 1956 to kill Ibrahim his cousin "Ibrahim Awinat" isn’t true, moreover, he spoke of the details related to the case of Bagdad and its affiliation with his false testimony saying that he has witnesses of those who saw the suspects beating his head and torturing him forcing himself to lie and confirms he has no connection with the Jews and didn’t receive anything from them.
