Proceedings of the 11th Session of the Court-Martial On Attempted Coup Against King of Jordan, 5 August 1957
Printed in Arabic, this archival item documents the proceedings of the 11th session of the Court-martial on the coup attempt against the King of Jordan which was held on Tuesday, 12 August 1957 at the King Abdullah II Air Base, in the presence of Colonel “Abed el-Karim al-Barghouti” and Colonel “Ahmad Baslan” along with “Taher Ashihabi”, “Saleh Abu Zaid” and “Adnan Biyoun”, together, they did the secretary related work. The Defense Committee included the following attorneys; Anwar Nusseibeh, Fuad Abd el-Hadi, Hasan Habib Hawwa and Azziz Shihadeh; whereas the session was inaugurated by the Chief Colonel Major “Aukash Azzain” who requested from the Representative of the Prosecution General "Muhammad Assadi" to present the witness; Second Lieutenant “Issa Hasan” in order to be questioned about his name, number and age in addition to what extent does he know the suspects? since when? and is there any relationship between them? he answered that he knows the defendants; Lieutenant “Ali Abu Nuwwar”, “Ali al-Hayyari” and “Mahmoud al-Mousa” and other additional information on meetings held in 1956 and the names of the officers who attended. The session was closed to resume on the evening of the same day at 5:00 pm.
