The Proceedings of the 10th Session of a Court Martial on the Coup Attempt Against the King of Jordan, 4 August 1957

Printed in Arabic, this archival item documents the proceedings of the 10th session of the Court Martial on the coup attempt against the King of Jordan which was held on Tuesday, 4 August 1957 at the King Abdullah II Air Base, in the presence of Colonel “Abed el-Karim al-Barghouti” and Colonel “Ahmad Baslan” along with “Taher Ashihabi”, “Saleh Abu Zaid” and “Adnan Biyoun”, together, they did the secretary related work.  The Defense Committee included the following attorneys; Anwar Nusseibeh, Fuad Abd el-Hadi, Hasan Habib Hawwa and Azziz Shihadeh; whereas the session was inaugurated by the Chief Colonel Major “Aukash Azzain” who requested from the Representative of the Prosecution General "Muhammad Assadi" to present the witness; “Salameh Mhawish” who delivered his testimony on the morning of the same day and he is to answer all questions addressed by the Defense Committee; whereas the Attorney “Aziz Shihadeh” from defense gave his questions on the details of transferring the witness from the Higher Technical Leadership to logistics, afterwards, Nusseibeh addressed his inquiry about the talks between the witness and his cousin in March 1957 on some meetings and courses he was part of like the mechanical course in Alexandria, meanwhile, Attorney, Habib Hawwa questioned the witness on the riots and shootings conducted during the day of the attempted coup on 13 April 1957 at 7:30, therefore, the witness answered that he was among the army units in accordance with the demonstrations happening in al-Zarqa and continued with additional details on the incidents taking place during the night of which.
