A Letter from Muhammad Nusseibeh to Yasser Arafat, 20 October 1997

Found in the Sari Nusseibeh Collection, this document shows a letter from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of al-Quds University, Muhammad Nusseibeh, to Yasser Arafat on 20 October 1997, which he begins by expressing his keenness not to burden Arafat with additional concerns, then mentions that the university administration neglected to submit the required budgets for the years 95, 96 and 97, as it was revealed to them that there was a financial crisis, after which a meeting took place with Arafat in Jericho, and added that the reason for this crisis is the lack of compliance or commitment from the president of the University with the regulations and laws in force in it, as he appointed a lot of professors and workers until their number exceeded 100 people since the beginning of 1996, and their salaries amount to more than 40% of the total salaries of all employees, in addition to the registration of 13 students in the Faculty of Medicine without following the procedures established for the faculty, and accordingly, he asks him to intervene to set the record straight.
