The Fifth and Sixth Stations of the Via Dolorosa, the Old City of Jerusalem, the 1920s

Taken in the 1920s, this photograph shows the fifth and sixth stations of the Via Dolorosa in the old city of Jerusalem, as the fifth station is called Simon of Cyrene, in which Cyrene helped Christ, and the sixth is called Veronica, where Saint Veronica wiped the face of Christ. The "Way of Suffering" is the path that Jesus Christ would have taken on the way to his crucifixion, consisting of fourteen stations, each representing a glimpse of his suffering.
