The First Station of the Via Dolorosa, the Old City of Jerusalem, the 1920s

Taken in the 1920s, this photograph shows the first station of the Via Dolorosa in the old city of Jerusalem, which is called the Palace of judgment where the sentence of the crucifixion of Christ was pronounced. The "Way of Suffering" is the path that Jesus Christ would have taken on the way to his crucifixion, consisting of fourteen stations, each representing a glimpse of his suffering.
