Issue 8300 of ad-Defa Newspaper, 1 May 1963

In its issue number 8300 dated 1 May 1963, ad-Defa Newspaper is a daily, political, news and illustrated newspaper founded in 1934 by Ibrahim Shanti in Jaffa, Sami Surouji from Hama and Khayr al-Din al-Zirikli from Beirut, while Shanti had the privilege and the title of editor-in-chief until 1949, as the privilege moved to his brother, Sadeq Shanti, and the newspaper was being issued in Jerusalem, while the manager was Nadim Elmeddin. Its front page included that Senator Jacob Javits suggested that the United States join Britain, France and other countries to sign a collective defence agreement with Israel and protect it from the Arabs.
