Issue 6261 of al-Shaab Newspaper, 1 November 1991

Al-Shaab newspaper in its issue dated 1 November 1991, is a daily political and illustrated newspaper issued in Jerusalem, established by Mahmoud Yaish, who was the franchisor and responsible editor, while Ali Yaish was its general manager, and its editor-in-chief was Akram Haniyeh. After the removal of Haniyeh in 1986, it was edited by Ibrahim Melhem, its first issue was published in 1972, and it was permanently discontinued in 1996, and it took an anti-Israel approach. Its front page included the contents of Haider Abdel-Shafi’s speech at the Madrid Conference, where he called for the establishment of a Palestinian state, and the cessation of settlements as well, with his affirmation of the Palestinians’ approval of the transitional period provided that it does not turn into a final situation, while Arafat called for close ranks and support of the delegation in Madrid, during an interview with Radio Monte Carlo.
