Issue 12 of al-Jadeed Magazine, December 1988

The twelfth issue of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951 and printed at the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa, was issued in December 1988 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqara and its chief editor Ibrahim Malik. Printed on the cover is a painting by the Jewish painter Jena Burger and another painting entitled "Motherhood" by the Soviet painter Yevgeny Gorditz. The issue included the following: 1. The talk of the month by editor Ibrahim Malik. 2. The political statement of the Intifada session of the Palestinian National Council was held in Algeria in 1988, where the statement became known as (The Document of Independence). 3. A study titled “Duality in Arabic and the Conditions to Learning Classical Arabic” by Mohammad Hasan Amara. 4. An economic study titled “One Year Since Intifada” by Ahmad Saad. 5. A corner of our heritage’s notables including Abu al-Faraj al-Isfahani by Hamad Mohammad Khalayleh. 6. A study titled “Taha Hussein, the Dean of Arabic Literature in the 15 Anniversary of His Death” by Fatima al-Hasan. 7. A study titled “The Charisma of Naguib Mahfouz’s Literature” by Valeria Korchagina. 8. An interview with the Bahraini writer Abdullah Khalifeh. 9. A poem titled “Al-Asheq Yaqra al-Fatiha” (The Lover Reads al-Fatiha) by Abdennaser Saleh. 10. Poems by Yousef al-Mahmoud. 11. A poem titled “Al-Arees” (The Groom) by Subhi Shahrouri. 12. A story titled “Return” by Mohammad Watad. 13. A story titled “The Swamp” by Riad Baydas. 14. Two short stories by Farouq Mwasi. 15. A story titled “He Returned with a Key in His Pocket” by Najib Sosan. 16. A poem titled “Iteraf” (Confession) by Kathem Ibrahim.
