Issue 1 of al-Jadeed Magazine, January 1985
The first issue of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture, founded in 1951 and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa, issued in January 1985 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Nakkara and its editor-in-chief Emile Touma, and a poster issued by the Women’s Universal Organization was printed on the cover. The issue included the following: 1. Editorial article titled “Al-Jadeed Enters a New Year with a Credit and a Program” by Emile Touma. 2. An article titled "Hana Naqqara, the Absent Face and the Remaining Heritage" by Salim Jabran. 3. The poem "Hekayaton Okhra Amama Shubbak at-Tasarih” (Another Story in front of the Window of Permits) by Fadwa Touqan. 4. Immortal poems by the German, Bertolt Brecht. 5. An article titled "The Conquest of Minds" by Radwa Ashour. 6. An article titled "Comparative Literature" by Ezz ed-Din Manasra. 7. Poetry titled "Tahalil Falasteenyeh Min Yawmeyat ash-Shaheed Jamal Ismail” Palestinian Songs from the Diaries of the Shaheed Jamal Ismail) by Hayel Asaqleh. 8. Poetry titled "Leqaa al-Alwan” (The Clash of Colors" by Osama Halabi. 9. A story titled "The Days of Our Country" by Mustafa Murrar. 10. A story titled "A Traffic Violation" by Suhail Kiwan. 11. A chapter from a study on death in the poetry of al-Sayyab by Ziad Shaylot.
