Issue 1 of al-Jadeed Magazine, January 1964
The first issue of the al-Jadeed magazine, a monthly magazine for progressive national thought and culture established in 1951, was issued in January 1964 under the supervision of its first editor Hanna Naqqara and printed in the Union Cooperative Press in Haifa. The issue included the following: 1. Article on the Arab Summit Conference by Saliba Khamis. 2. An article titled "The New March in 10 Years" by Emile Touma. 3. A poem titled "Out Motasalelan” (Out, Offside) by Issam al-Abbasi. 4. A poem titled "Martheyat Li Nathem Hekmat” (An Elegy for Nazim Hikmat) by Abdel-Wahhab al-Bayati. 5. A story titled "A Drum from the Sky" by Yousef Idris. 6. A study titled "Assimilation in Russia". 7. The poem "La Ahad” (No One) by Ahmad Hegazy. 8. The story "Not Done" by Faraj Nour Suleiman. 9. A poem titled "An at-Tafeheen” (On Fools) by Salim Jabran. 10. A poem titled "Mawed Ma al-Matar” (A Date with the Rain) by Fawzi Abdullah. 11. An article titled "The High Dam" by Ali Ashour. 12. An article titled “The Qatari Watercourse” by Eliezer Feller. 13. An interview with the artist of the Nakba, Ismail Shammout. 14. Essay on diabetes by Rashid Salim.
