Biography of the Traditional Poet Ahmad Obaida
Handwritten by Njaeeb Sabri Yaaqba, this archival item documents the biography of the traditional poet Ahmad Yousef Abdullah Obaida, born at Burqin village in 1935. The document includes traditional poetry verses he used to perform at social and national events including "Dolab Addaher Ehthar Walaw Far We Ittabe Ashal Droubak Wlawfar" (Be Ware of the Wheel of Time, Even if it Turns, and Follow Your Easiest and Cheapest Path). It is worth mentioning that Yaaqba wrote down traditional poetry and the path and experiences of Zajjals from different Palestinian villages, refugee camps and cities to collect the legacy of the land's Zajal and Hida and to inform people of the notables of Palestinian traditional poetry.
