Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1927

Handwritten between 13 April and 31 December 1927, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1927, where he detailed his family and social life as the mayor of Tulkarm. According to their subject, the diaries were divided into three sections, where al-Haj Ibrahim recorded the most important activities. For one, he wrote about his ownership of the Faza orchard on the seashore near the city of Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khaled, where he also recorded accounts and expenses for the orchard, including accounts for the planting and grafting of trees, and making a budget for the means of transportation and loading used in the orchard. He also wrote down his most important social activities like attending funerals and weddings, attending the meeting of mayors and notables with the high commissioner in Jerusalem, and visiting Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque, Haifa, Yafa, Umm Khaled and Qalqilya on several occasions. In addition to that, he mentioned his health on top of some of the pages, the days he attended work at the Tulkarm Municipality, the meetings of the Municipal Council, road, education and city cleaning committees, and issues related to developing education in the city.
