Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1928
Handwritten between 1 January and 31 December 1928, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1928 where he detailed his family and social life as the mayor of Tulkarm. According to their subject, the diaries were divided into three sections, where al-Haj Ibrahim recorded the most important activities. For one, he wrote about his ownership of the Faza orchard on the seashore near the city of Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khaled, where he also recorded accounts and expenses for the orchard, including accounts for the planting, grafting and fertilizing of trees, and for installing pipelines from the orchard's pool, as well as recording the production of watermelons, melons and wheat. Al-Haj Ibrahim also recorded the most important social activities, including his visit to a few Palestinian cities including Haifa, Yafa and Jerusalem. He also wrote about a visit by members of the Supreme Muslim Council to the city of Tulkarm, and also detailed his health conditions, and the expenses he paid for his home and family. Al-Hajj Ibrahim was also keen to write about his work within the Municipality of Tulkarm, where he recorded his participation during the Municipal Council meetings, as well as his participation in the meetings of the streets, education and city cleaning committees. He also wrote about supervising the construction and organization processes in the city and the paving of a street leading to a hospital in the city.
