Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1931
Handwritten between 1 January and 31 December 1931, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1931, where he detailed his family and social life as the mayor of Tulkarm. According to their subject, the diaries were divided into three sections, where al-Haj Ibrahim recorded the most important activities. For one, he wrote about his ownership of the Faza orchard on the seashore near the city of Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khaled, where he also recorded accounts and expenses for building a new room in the orchard, the wages of workers and artisans, his income from the orchard from selling watermelons and muskmelons. He mentioned the most important social activities that he carried out, including visiting several Palestinian cities, towns, and villages, including Haifa, Yafa, Jerusalem, al-Karmil, Wadi al-Hawarith, Jenin, Bisan, Tiberias, Umm Khaled, Kfar Saba, and Deir Sharaf, and recorded notes about his medical trip to the al-Himmah region. One of the most important things recorded by al-Haj Ibrahim was his attendance at the General Islamic Conference of 1931, and that he sold a large number of dunums and mortgaged his house and orchard, and redeemed the mortgage in the same year. Al-Hajj Ibrahim was also keen to write down the days when he went to conduct business in the municipality of Tulkarm and mentioned that he participated in the reception of the Indian Muslim leader Shaukat Ali and attended the magistrate judge ceremony.
