Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1939

Handwritten between 1 January and 31 December 1939, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim, where he left some empty, and in others detailed his family and social life during that period, when he had been displaced from Tulkarem and exiled to Beirut, and he recorded in it the things he had done, which were limited to meeting with the General Security Department to prove his presence in Beirut. He also wrote that he sent correspondences to his children and family in Tulkarem and other correspondences to Jerusalem, Yafa, Haifa and Nablus, and he mentioned that he rented his orchard and entrusted his son, Samir, with collecting the sums of money from its production and handing over to him all matters pertaining to it. Haj Ibrahim dedicated space to talk about his perseverance in praying at the mosque, the types of meals he ate in the city’s restaurants and cafes, the trips and tours he took to get to know important landmarks in Lebanon, and he mentioned that he went to the cinema with his friends, and wrote about his health and the diseases he suffered during the year and the treatments he took, focusing on his ongoing dental treatment.
