The Sling of Shaheed Samer Eweissi Displayed at the '100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives' Exhibition, February 2001

This photograph shows the sling that belonging to Shaheed Samer Eweissi who lived in Qalqilia, displaced from Abu Kishk village in near Yaffa. On October 20, 2000, he went to participate in demonstrations that occurred in his city and took with him his sling where he was shot in his lung and murdered. This item was displayed at the "100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives" exhibition held at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah On February 20, 2001.which is taken by photographer Isabel de la Cruz, the idea of the exhibition emerged weeks after the eruption of the Second Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada) as a tribute to all those murdered in the struggle. However, as the number of Shaheeds was exponentially increasing, the exhibition was limited to honoring the first 100 Shaheeds representing all areas of Historic Palestine.
