Keychain Holder of Shaheed Nabil Khater Displayed at the '100 Shaheed - 100 Lives' Exhibition, Feb 2001
Taken by photographer Isabel de la Cruz, this photograph shows keychain holder belonging to Shaheed (martyr) Nabil Khater from Gaza. Khater spent 15 years in Israeli jails. On October 17th, 2000, he went to the area surrounding the Israeli Netzarim settlement and was killed there. This item was displayed at the '100 Shaheed - 100 Lives' exhibition, held at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah on February 20, 2001. The idea of the exhibition emerged weeks after the eruption of the Second Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada) as a tribute to all those murdered in the struggle. However, as the number of Shaheeds was exponentially increasing, the exhibition was limited to honoring the first 100 Shaheeds representing all areas of Historic Palestine.
