"Engravings of Akka & Jerusalem" Documentary, Engraved in Stone Project (2023)
This documentary film explores the most significant stone engravings in the cities of Akka and Jerusalem. It begins by showcasing the important Mamluk and Ottoman engravings in Akka in northern Palestine, focusing on those found in al-Jazzar Mosque, the Shadhiliya Zawiya, and several archaeological sites such as the Mosque of Zahir al-Umar and the Saraya building. The video then discusses the engravings of Jerusalem and their date of creation, starting with the market engravings, moving on to the walls of the Old City, and concluding with the engravings of the Bimaristan Fountain and Yafa Gate. The video is produced in 2023 by the Tamer Institute for Community Education as part of the project "Engraved in Stone: Living Palestine’s Memory" funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and supervised by Taawon (Welfare Association).
