"Dayr al-Qasi and Burj al-Barajneh", Stories from the Sea to the River Project, 2022
This video documents an interview conducted by Tarek Al-Bakri and Bayan Sukkar with Um Mustafa al-Abed from the forcibly depopulated village of Dayr al-Qasi, who resides in the Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut. Al-Bakri spoke with Sukkar and al-Abed in a video call and took them on a tour inside the village. Um Mustafa shared her memories of her depopulated village and the beauty of its homes. Then, al-Bakri guided her through the house of the mukhtar (village chief) Majid Al-Sadiq. He asked her about the town square and the village that her house overlooks in Dayr al-Qasi. The video was produced by Shagaf for Digital Expression, in collaboration with the "We Were and Still Are... Here" initiative and the Campgi platform in 2022, as part of the "Stories from the Sea to the River" project, funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and supervised by Taawon (Welfare Association).
