Taken in June 1980, this photograph shows a group of leaders from the Palestine Liberation Organisation, led by Talal Naji of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command and Khalil al-Wazir (Abu Jihad) of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement- Fateh, visiting Bassam Shakaa at King Hussein Medical Center in Amman. The visit was made in the wake of the Israeli Occupation Authorities' attempt to assassinate Shakaa, leading to the amputation of his legs on 2 June.
